Elopement Mayan Wedding in Tulum – Sage & Morgan

Sage & Morgan ran away to proclaim their love in Tulum, Riviera Maya, Mexico; and they choose to do that following the ancient Mayan traditions.

A Mayan wedding is probably one of the most enchanting way to celebrate the union of two people souls forever.

The Mayan ceremony is a unique experience, full of mysticism and deep spiritual meaning and is officiated by a native priest called Shaman.

Our venue was a cenote, an open cavern with underground water in the heart of the forest close by Tulum; Mayan people considered it sacred and the nature was the only witness of the union of these two souls.

Our photographer was amazed by the detailed setting up of the Mayan altar; colored flowers, cacao, several seeds and of course copal. The altar was beautifully located on a small wooden bridge, over the waters of the cenote.

Sage & Morgan walked through the jungle paths until they reached our Shaman; the musicians were blowing the conch shell to the four cardinal points, asking for the permission and the blessing for our sweethearts. The scent of copal was filling the air; Sage and Morgan looked deeply into each other’s eyes, meanwhile they exchanged their vows and the rings. Such a touching moment!

Finally, the newlyweds delivered a floral offering to the cenote and the Shaman covered them with colored flowers and the ceremony ended.

Dears Sage and Morgan, we are grateful for giving us the opportunity to be your photographers and witnesses of your commitment…. Congratulations!
